On March 6, 2025, Jessica F. Simmons published an article on the Virginia Dogwood website highlighting the efforts of the H.O.P.E. Foundation in addressing menstrual equity in Virginia schools. The article discusses how, despite the 2020 mandate requiring Virginia public schools to provide free menstrual products for students in grades 5-12, the lack of allocated funding has left many schools unable to comply. This gap has led to students resorting to inadequate solutions or missing school.
